Rate the Peterborough United players in the Vital Posh Man of the Match Poll for the Sky Bet League One match against Fleetwood Town which is now up and running.
Posh stopped the rot with a win in their final home league match of the season against a Fleetwood Town side who also had little to play for.
On a rain sodden pitch, both sides struggled to control both their passes and controlling of the ball in a dire first-half with little excitement. Posh were the “better” side in the first 45 minutes as they carved out a few chances to score while keeping the Cod Army quiet at the other end of the pitch.
Posh started the second half on a much more positive note and they got their reward after six minutes when, who else but Jack Marriott latched on to a lobbed headed through ball from Anthony Taylor to lob the ball over the stranded Fleetwood goalkeeper.
The Cod Army had the woodwork to thank for keeping the scoreline down as Posh hit it on at least three occasions but nothing could stop George Coopers strike on 78 minutes. A good run down the wing by substitute Danny Lloyd ended with a pin=point cross to Cooper who hit a first time effort into the top corner of the net to complete the scoring and bring down a disappointing home campaign for Posh.
Posh did leapfrog Portsmouth, the team they face on the final day of the season, into eighth place while the Cod Army dropped one place to 16th.
