Everyone was buzzing before the match after seeing the club hold on to all their major players while adding three players during the January transfer window including deadline day signing Omar Bogle.

Sadly that buzz fizzed out very quickly as a very poor performance by all the Posh starting eleven culminated in a one-nil defeat with the only goal being scored from the penalty spot after some poor reactions by goalkeeper Jonathan Bond.

The officials were poor as well, disallowing two perfectly good goals for incorrect off-side decisions but the Shrimpers, playing their second game under new manager Chris Powell, were determined to put in a good display and were first to everything and chased the ball down at every opportunity.

The only Posh players to come out with any credit were the substitutes. Junior Morias did OK in a midfield position before moving up front to partner Jack Marriott when loan signing Bogle went off while Danny Lloyd offered a lot of energy and delivered some dangerous balls into the box while Leo Da Silva Lopes, playing in central midfield was very good!

The defeat saw Posh remain in eighth place but are now five points away from the play-offs while the Shrimpers moved up two places to 15th; five points above the relegation places and six points behind Posh.

What did you think to the performances of the Posh players and Grant McCann?

Rate the players below and the player with the best rating will win the Man of the Match.
