It was a second successive disappointing season with Chairman Darragh MacAnthony describing it as “underwhelming”!

A 9th place finish was certainly not what the doctor ordered after being told by Darren Ferguson that he had the best ever squad he had ever had at Posh!

His “best ever squad” ended up getting him the boot from the managerial hotseat after an absolutely dire performance at MK Dons.

Posh did start the season well, just like the previous season, but again they weren`t putting in the performances to match the results they were achieving. They were soon found out and dropped from second place down the League pretty quickly although it was surprising that they didn`t drop further away from the play-offs. With so many teams beating each other, it meant Posh kept in touching distance with the play-off teams.

Fergie departed Posh leaving the team in 15th place with Academy manager Dave Robertson taking over. He made small changes to both the playing side of things by playing players in their proper position and reverted back to a simple 4-4-2 formation.

Those changes worked wonders and although the entertainment was still poor, Posh won 5 out of their first 6 matches under Robertson and moved into the last play-off place.

Sadly, that is where the slump in scoring happened which saw Posh plummet back down the table before making a mini recovery at the end of the season which saw Posh finish in 9th place in League One, six points behind Chesterfield who finished in sixth place.

Nobody played consistently throughout the season which is reflected in the voting. Out of the 21 players available for selection, 17 of them received votes! Only Shaun Brisley, Kane Ferdinand, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Jon Taylor failed to pick up any votes!
