Posh finished off their home campaign win a much needed win after suffering four defeats on the bounce leading up to the match.
After an utterly woeful first-half from both sides and the officiating, Posh took the lead through top scorer Jack Marriott who scored his last home goal of the season in what is widely expected to be his last home match for Posh.
The goal, six minutes into the second-half, came as Marriot got on the end of a cross to lob to Cod Army goalkeeper.
After Marcus Maddison departed to widespread applause in the 74th minute, substitute Danny Lloyd beat the Cod Army right back to cross an inch perfect ball to George Cooper who struck the ball with one touch into the corner of the net for goal number two.
Posh sat back after that goal allowing plenty of pressure from the visitors with their closest effort hitting the crossbar. Ten seconds from the final whistle, Idris Kanu entered the pitch for 33-goal Marriott who received a standing ovation as he departed.
The win saw Posh move up one place to eighth leapfrogging Portsmouth who they face on the final day of the season next weekend.
