Could the fixture computer have given us a harder festive opener?

Well possibly Newcastle away perhaps!

After Mark Cooper presided over his first win of his managerial reign last time out, he now takes his side to free scoring West Bromwich Albion.

The Hawthorns based side, under the stewardship of Roberto Di Matteo, are amongst the promotion pack and are a pretty decent side.

Pundits across the land are not expecting much festive cheer on the Peterborough coach home, so can we surprise them, can we pull off a win?

Off course we can! It`s all about inner belief, self confidence whilst also praying for a minor miracle!

The Hawthorns isn`t a fortress, other clubs have won there so why can`t we?

Last week Lee Frecklington got his first Championship goal for Posh and has had this to say about getting off the mark and also troubling West Brom,

“Obviously I was delighted to get off the mark in The Championship last week especially as it helped us win the game and I hope it’s a sign of things to come.

‘We all need to keep chipping in with goals. We can’t leave it all to the strikers and I’m confident I can score my fair share.

‘I’ve developed a good understanding with Paul Coutts in the centre of midfield which will help. Everyone knows what a class player Paul is and with him sitting in front of the back four and controlling possession, it enables me to get forward.’

‘West Brom are renowned for the quality of their football, but we are all confident we can go there, play well and get a result.

‘We’re pleased to get off the bottom of The Championship in time for Christmas because everyone says that the team bottom on Christmas Day gets relegated.

‘Now we need to make sure we keep moving up.’

Indeed we do, that`s as good a strategy as anything and if we can focus on those above us, reeling them in one-by-one, we can claw our way out of our current predicament.

Mark Cooper will select his starting eleven from the following squad, although the grapevine suggests that Gabriel Zakuani will miss the match through injury.

Lewis, Zakuani, Griffiths, Bennett, Geohaghon, Coutts, Frecklington, Whelpdale, Boyd, Mackail-Smith, Mclean, McKeown, Lee, Diagouraga, Rowe, Simpson, Morgan. Green, Keates, Pearce, Batt.

Come on Posh; give us the ideal Christmas present!
