Who has won Vital Posh Man of the Match for the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy Area-Final 2nd Leg match at Swindon Town? Find out the results.
There was everything to play for going into the second leg of the JP Trophy area-final after the first leg at London Road finished all square at two-apiece.
It was the home side that settled first and caused the Posh back four no end of problems especially Craig Alcock who had the unenviable task of trying to keep Alex Pritchard quiet.
It was the former Posh loanee that broke the deadlock after some poor defending from a throw-in allowed Swindon to play the ball right across the six-yard box. Craig Alcock was first to the ball but he panicked and fired the ball straight at an on-rushing Robins player! Unfortunately the ball rebounded straight to Pritchard who had the relatively simple task of tucking the ball away.
Posh did get back into the match and some poor tactics by Mark Cooper saw his Robins side try to defend for the whole of the second half!! Luckily for Posh they eventually managed to get themselves level but it all came from another mistake. This time Michael Bostwick capitalised on the loose ball, powered into the area and sent over a delicate chip straight onto the head of Britt Assombalonga who gratefully planted the ball into the net.
No further goals were scored in the 90 minutes which meant the game went straight to penalties which Posh won 4-3.
