In the first of a regular series, we intend covering the playing staff of Peterborough United Football Club.
What better place to start than with the man who has been tasked with keeping the opposition at bay – Joe Lewis.
At six feet six inches, Joe Lewis is an imposing figure and his rise to fame has been nothing short of startling.
When Posh signed him, for a club record fee of £400,000 from Norwich City, I doubt whether even those responsible for the outlay knew just what a good keeper they`d acquired.
An U21 international, Lewis has also now been called up by the full squad and was a fixture on the substitutes bench for two successive friendly internationals.
Unfortunately, his displays have also attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs and Posh will do well to hang on to a keeper who has fast become a favourite of the London Road faithful.
Before leaving Norwich City, to make the short journey to London Road, Lewis had spells at Stockport and Morecambe, both on loan.
We`d judge the signing of Lewis as one of Darren Ferguson`s best signings and that`s a huge compliment considering there have been numerous others who also fall into that category.
