Poor defending costs POSH

Two defensive errors from POSH meant they were always chasing the game against 10 man Grimsby.

The visitors saw Steve Jones red carded in the first half for a two footed lunge on Peter Gain.

But poor defending by debutant Ben Futcher let in Ciaran Toner and the ex POSH man slotted home against his old club.

Futcher atoned for his error and pulled POSH level against his old club soon after.

Just as the pressure was being applied by the home side as they went for the win, Guy Branston’s header back to Mark Tyler was too short and Peter Bore snook in to put the Mariners back in front.

Looks of horror spread across the faces of the home fans but they were soon removed as Trevor Benjamin levelled again.

In the remaining minutes, both sides had chances to win it with Shane Huke going closest for POSH.

Ultimately a draw was the fair result.
