Its all about the world cup at the moment, but there has been one or two things happening in Peterborough recently.

Coupe de Monde

It looks like those pesky Frenchmen are favourites for the world cup now that they have knocked the Brazilians out.

England huffed and puffed throughout their campaign but in truth never looked likely to go the distance, and that was despite my positive thinking!

Michael Owen’s departure on a stretched took away any goal threat we did have and after that it was all downhill.

The sad thing is that the Brazilians had looked fallible all tournament and it is a shame it was the French who took advantage of that and not us…

The awful thing is that I will be at least 36 now when England next land the big prize!!

The in door has been bursting…

Keith Alexander has wasted no time in getting some new faces into the POSH squad.

Jude Stirling and Richard Butcher are the two latest recruits who seem keen to bring the glory days back to London Road.

With no more squad trimming having happened you do wonder if the crown jewels (St Ledger/Crow) are likely to be shipped out to help fulfil the budget cuts.

Italian style

I, like many others was a little bit annoyed that having taken part in a text vote for next seasons home shirt, the club ditched Admiral for Diadora.

It seemed on the face of it like another POSH pr disaster, but when you look bigger picture it may be beneficial.

Admiral have made some interesting and varied kits for POSH during their three seasons. The blue shirt with white sleeves may have seen relegation, but it was a classic PUFC shirt.

The black away shirt will also be fondly remembered.

But in Diadora the bar is raised slightly and fans are eagerly awaiting a glimpse of the new garment.

Ok, so the fat ones are dreading it being of figure hugging partial lycra material, but in general there is a bit of expectancy in the air on what it will look like.

No word on whether 4-4-2 magazine is definitely taking over from Hotpoint, but I expect a decision soon.

Back to action

It was interesting to see the pictures of the lads back in training on the official site the other day.

It does show how the world cup has filled the gap between 2005/06 and 2006/07 doesn’t it?

The match action starts this week with a trip to the Vic Couzens stadium to meet newly promoted Stamford in a friendly.
