POSH cause the upset

Peterborough United booked their place in the second round of this seasons Carling Cup with a hard earned shoot out win over Ipswich Town at London Road last night.

United took the lead in first half stoppage time through a Trevor Benjamin penalty. That single goal looked enough only for Jason De Vos to level matters in the last minute of normal time.

You may expect POSH to buckle, and history would suggest that was likely. Guy Branston though had other ideas and the talismanic centre half took only five minutes of extra time to put United back in front.

Clarke scored for Ipswich to level it up again, before Tyler made a couple of magical saves to take it to penalty kicks.

Tyler was again the hero as POSH won the shoot out and went through to the next round. The draw is on Sky Sports News on Saturday at 1330hrs.
