So it’s no points and no goals over Easter for POSH, and at a stage of the season when even a draw would have been a step in the right direction.

Rochdale were without a home win since November but now is a good time to face Steve Bleasdales men. His side have gone from early year play off certainties to also rans in pretty quick time.

The game always looked likely to be decided by a single goal and to be fair, early on it looked like ‘boro could be that team.

But clear cut chances were at a premium and once the usually steady Mark Arber and Tim Ryan started to lose the range of their passing, the home side sensed something in the match for them.

Danny Crow and Richard Logan worked hard but with little reward and understanding. Logan spurning the best opportunity of the match for the visitors.

Mark Tyler made a couple of great saves in the first half but it was his failure to hold a drive which let in in Iyseden Christie for the only goal.

Lloyd Opara was thrown on to try and get that equaliser but, in truth the game was up.

Since the match captain Dean Holden has asked the fans to stay with the team because a win against Macclesfield this weekend could well see the club back in the play-offs.

But they will need to halt this negative momentum and play with a bit of freedom.

This season has been positive for a number of reasons, it would be a shame not to have something to show from it.

You can blame who you want at Peterborough United, but there I would have taken 8th place and 2 points off the play off places back in August.
