Ahead of the retained list being announced by Peterborough United, Vital Posh look at the results from the poll asking should Posh release or offer new contracts.

Kyle Vassell strikes the bar v Gillingham

There are believed to be nine players out of contract at Posh this summer and you feel five of those players should definitely depart the club. Kyle Vassell (98.51%) and Kgosi Ntlhe (91.3%) received the highest numbers of votes to be released with Jack Friend (83.58%), Shaun Brisley (81.16%) and Souleymane Soulibaly (72.86%) close behind them.

Gaby Zakuani v Port Vale 2

The next grouping of players received about a 50/50 split. Of those, just one player received more ‘release’ votes than ‘offer new contract’. Andrew Fox received 51.43% of the votes to be released while the other two players received slightly more ‘offer new contract’ votes. Gaby Zakuani receive 51.47% to be offered a new contract while Harry Anderson received 55.88% to be given an extended contract.

Harry Beautyman and Lee Angol celebrate goal number 3 v Coventry

There was only one player that received a resounding vote to be offered a new contract. That was Harry Beautyman who received 95.83% to be offered an extended deal which justifies his performance this season.

Jack Payne v Coventry

Of the players whose contracts expire at the end of next season, just one player has received a resounding ‘release’. Midfielder Jack Payne, who has spent the majority of this season on loan at League Two side Leyton Orient polled 70.59% to be released.

Dion-Curtis Henry

There is only one player you were unsure about and that is teenage goalkeeper Dion-Curtis Henry. He received slightly more ‘offer new contract’ votes (56.72%) than he did to be released.

Referee Phil Gibbs watches Jon Taylor chase a ball v Scunthorpe

The other four players are ones we want to keep…or at least at this stage we want them to stay. The players and percentage of votes to be offered a new contract were:

72.86% – Erhun Oztumer
72.86% – Ben Alnwick
76.81% – Ricardo Almeida Santos
88.57% – Michael Smith
97.18% – Jon Taylor

Once the retained list is announced, we’ll take a look at who’s gone and who’s staying and compare that with the current poll being run asking who should Posh Keep, Sell, Release or Loan Out.

Don`t forget to vote in the following polls that are running at the time of print:
