The next Posh Weekly looks at the latest news coming out of Peterborough United, what their rival teams in League One are up to and general footie news.

BYE BYE SAMUELSEN

Martin Samuelsen v WBA

It looks like Posh have failed in their bid to bring back talented teenager Martin Samuelsen on loan from West Ham United.

Samuelsen has been training with the Hammers first team squad and has even travelled to the USA for their tour. The Norwegian International played the first half of a three-nil defeat in the opening friendly to Seattle Sounders but he was one of the few players to come out of the match with any credit.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has been impressed with the youngster and must decide whether to keep him involved with the first team or send him out on loan again. If he decides on the latter then he will be looking for a Championship side to take him on.

WAITING GAME FOR ELDER

Posh are still in pursuit of left-back Callum Elder but they must play a waiting game.

The Foxes are trying to tie Elder down to a new contract and until this situation has been resolved no loan deal can be sorted out. The good news is that Leicester and Elder have agreed to the loan once the contractual situation has been sorted out.

The loan deal could still fall flat though as it is all dependent upon the financial situation. Posh would be looking for the Foxes to pick up all or at least the majority of Elder`s wages for the loan to go ahead.

If the loan doesn`t come to fruition, Grant McCann has identified three other players to fill the left-back position which turned into a difficult position to fill after Elder suffered a season ending injury in December.

LUKE JAMES HEADS OUT ON LOAN AGAIN!

Striker Luke James has, for the second season in succession, headed out of the ABAX Stadium on a season long loan.

Hopefully, this time it`ll work out a lot better after his last season long loan ended in January after he spent most of his time bench warming or watching the matches from the stands!

James spent the latter part of last season on loan at his former club Hartlepool United and helped them to move away from the relegation places. One of the teams he played against during his time at the Monkey Hangers is his destination for this season and it is a team that were promoted from League Two?Bristol Rovers.

WILL FORMER STRIKER MAKE THE GRADE?

A striker Posh sold for £1.5 million four years ago is back at Posh trying to get fit after being without a club for the last year.

Paul Taylor is trying to regain his fitness and if he can, then look for a club but that club could be Posh!

Taylor hasn`t looked out of place whilst training with the Posh squad but he is just lacking the fitness needed. Grant McCann hasn`t ruled anything out and believes a fit Taylor could be one of the best players in League One!

If only Taylor would look up once in a while and realise that he has teammates to pass the ball to instead of head-down running down a blind alley!

FORMER PLAYERS MAKE MOVES

More ex-Posh players have been moving to new clubs.

Central defender Shaun Brisley has moved a long way north to sign for League Two side Carlisle United. Brisley has signed a two-year contract with the Cumbrians.

Two players who left Posh a few years ago have also teamed up with new surroundings. Danny Kearns has linked up with former Posh manager Dave Robertson at Irish club Sligo Rangers.

The second player has moved to a new club but it`s not totally new surroundings. Lee Tomlin spent part of last season on loan at Bristol City and he`s now made that move permanent by signing a three-year contract. He moved from Bournemouth, whom he appeared six times for in the Premier League, for an undisclosed fee.
