Welcome to the next Posh Weekly as we look at the latest news coming out of Peterborough United, what their rival teams in League One are up to and general footie news.

OLDFIELD NEW NUMBER TWO

Former Posh midfielder David Oldfield, who spent the last few weeks of last season as temporary assistant manager to Grant McCann, has agreed terms on a two-year deal to replace former number two Lee Glover.

Oldfield has got previous experience at both Burton Albion and Queens Park Rangers as assistant manager but he has also experienced being in the managers seat, albeit temporarily, as he took charge of one Posh match!

TYLER COMPLETES MANAGEMENT SET-UP

Posh completed their management line-up by agreeing terms with Mark Tyler to become the goalkeeping coach.

Tyler combined playing, albeit just four times, with the duties of the goalkeeping coach last season but McCann wants his coaching staff to fully focus on coaching although the Posh boss hasn`t ruled out Tyler pulling on his boots again if Posh are hit with a goalkeeping injury crisis!

ONE IN, THREE OUT!

We have witnessed one player arriving at the ABAX Stadium in the past week while three players have departed!

The one incumbent is 18-year-old goalkeeper Josh Tibbets who arrives at Posh after his contract at Birmingham City came to an end. Tibbets played a number of times for Posh reserves at the end of last season making a big impression on Grant McCann and a lot of first team players!

Going in the opposite direction through the ABAX doors is another teenage goalkeeper. Dion-Curtis Henry asked if he could seek a move away in search of first team football which Posh agreed to and so his two-year contract extension won`t be taken up by Posh.

The other two players on their way out of Posh have both gone to Mansfield Town to team up with manager Steve Evans. Right-back Hayden White and striker Lee Angol have both joined the Stags for undisclosed amounts.

OTHER POSH NEWS

The following are a few other pieces of news to come out relating to Posh:

POSH RUMOUR MILL

Posh have been linked with a number of players but one player in particular seems to be interesting Posh. Midfielder Michael Doughty from Championship side Queens Park Rangers is the man thought to have caught the eye of Grant McCann.

Other players linked to Posh but are just rumours include Fleetwood Town`s Northern Ireland right-back Conor McLaughlin and Swansea City`s young striker Ollie McBurnie.

LEAGUE ONE ROUND-UP

It was the League One Play-Off Final at the weekend which saw Bradford City, who finished 5th, face Millwall, who finished the season in sixth place. The Lions won a very boring match one-nil thanks to an 85th minute winner but the match was overshadowed by the disgusting scenes at the end when the Millwall fans decided to invade the Wembley pitch!

The final piece in the League One jigsaw will be decided on Sunday when Blackpool face Exeter City in the Wembley showdown. The Tangerines are expected to name two former Posh players in their starting line-up – midfielder Jack Payne and forward Kyle Vassell.

Southend United striker Nile Ranger has been jailed for eight months! He was jailed jailed after admitting online banking fraud.

OTHER NEWS OF INTEREST

The Football Association have announced that they have extended their powers when it comes to punishing retrospective simulation.

The new powers will come into play when there is ‘clear and overwhelming’ evidence that suggests a Match Official has been successfully duped by an act of simulation and and as a direct result, the offending player’s team has been awarded a penalty or seen a member of the opposition sent off.
