Welcome to the next Posh Weekly as we look at the latest news coming out of Peterborough United, what their rival teams in League One are up to and general footie news.

It`s been a remarkably quiet week at Peterborough United. No one has come in and no one has left. Posh Chairman Darragh MacAnthony is now on his annual family holiday for two weeks although he does have his mobile ready!

The following are a few pieces of news that have actually come out in the last week relating to Posh:

Former Posh right-back Mark Little has been released by Championship side Bristol City and it is believed Posh have made an offer to him.

Posh have made contract offers to FOUR goalkeepers, one of which is Tottenham Hotspurs` Luke McGee.

POSH RUMOUR MILL

Two players rumoured to be interesting Posh have been ruled out by Posh Chairman Darragh MacAnthony. Former Posh midfielder Erhun Oztumer and Plymouth Argyle midfielder Graham Carey are apparently not on the Posh radar.

Bradford City`s Northern Ireland International Rory McArdle is rumoured to be interesting Posh. The 30-year-old defender is out of contract at the Bantams and has apparently had offers from both Posh and Scunthorpe United while Bradford would also like to resign him.

LEAGUE ONE ROUND-UP

Paul Cook has left League Two Champions Portsmouth to take charge of Wigan Athletic, who were relegated from the Championship last season. Portsmouth had offered a lucrative new contract to Cook but he chose to take over the helm at Wigan for whom he used to play. He replaces interim boss Graham Barrow, who left the Latics on Monday.

Taking over from Cook at Pompey is a man who knows the League very well and who has achieved promotions before. Kenny Jacket has twice led sides to promotion from League One, firstly Millwall in 2010 and then Wolves in 2014 although his last venture, at Rotherham United in the Championship last season, lasted just 39 days and five matches!

OTHER NEWS OF INTEREST

A number of former Posh players have been on the move recently. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, who had a decent campaign in League One for Rochdale has moved up to the Championship and joined Cardiff City!

Fresh from starting in the League Two play-off win for Blackpool over Exeter City, midfielder Jack Payne was one of ten players to be released by the Tangerines.

Defender Danny Andrew has teamed up once again with former Posh boss Darren Ferguson as they both look to life in League One. Fergie guided his Doncaster Rovers side to automatic promotion after finishing third while Andrew rejected a new contract at Grimsby Town who finished the campaign in 14th place.

Central defender Ryan Bennett has departed Norwich City, the club who signed him from Posh in 2012. The 27-year-old former England Under-21 international who made 119 appearances for the Canaries has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a three-year contract.

Striker Kwesi Appiah has departed Premiership side Crystal Palace after coming to the end of his contract. The 26-year-old spent two seasons at Posh but failed to make the grade before dropping down into non-league. The Eagles picked him up in 2012 after he hit 22 goals in 24 appearances for Margate. Appiah has joined AFC Wimbledon, a side he was on loan at in 2014, on a permanent deal.
