Hot on the heals of 15-year-old Mason Bennett making his second appearance for Derby County this week, Peterborough United may be forced into naming a 15 year old striker on their bench following a spate of injuries and suspensions.

Youth team striker Jaanai Gordon-Hutton will make the Posh bench if none of the injured players pass fitness tests. Fergie said to PUTV “He`s [Gordon-Hutton] a good player. He`s strong, he`s quick and we`re thin on bodies”.

Gordon-Hutton won’t be the youngest player to play for Posh if he makes his debut. That record is currently held by Matthew Etherington who was 15 years 262 days old when he first played for Posh in 1996. Gordon-Hutton will be 15 years 333 days old when Posh face Derby on Saturday.

With Lee Frecklington and Lee Tomlin both missing through suspension and Newell, Alcock and Wootton all on the injury list combined with other squad players out on loan, the small Posh squad is down to the bare bones.

Fergie continued “There`s only 15 available [players] now. Craig Alcock we`re not sure about but we`ll find out tomorrow [Friday]. Jaanai will come in to the squad and we`ve got young Nathan Ralph”.

Head of Youth Dave Robertson told www.theposh.com: “It is great news for Jaanai to be called into the squad for Saturday’s game against Derby County.

“Jaanai joined us in early 2009 and has been with us for three seasons.

“He performed extremely well as an under 15 playing up an age group in the 16s and he has been a regular in the under 18s this year. He has also played in the development squad and has earned his place in the first team squad with injuries and suspensions affecting the gaffer’s selection.

“Hopefully he will grab his opportunity and do himself proud. It is fantastic to see the first team manager giving opportunities to those young players.

“Myself, Gavin Strachan and Darren visited Mark Woods, the head teacher, to ask for permission to train with the first team in preparation for the game and he was delighted to allow this to happen,” Robertson confirmed.
