Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson described the win over Bristol City as “a perfect day”.

Solid And Professional Performance

After a defeat and draw, it was vital that Posh got back to winning ways and although Saturday`s match at Bristol City looked a tricky one on paper, Posh easily kept the Robins out of range of Bobby Olejniks goal while scoring three times at the other end.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson was obviously delighted with the win as he said after the match: “A 3-0 victory away to Bristol City always ranks as a fantastic result and today is no different. The way we went about things was very impressive. The best way to describe it is a solid and professional performance. A clean sheet and both strikers scoring makes it a perfect day.

“We were very well organised from start to finish. We had a good shape both when in possession and when Bristol City had the ball.

“The most pleasing thing is the way we looked so strong against a team boasting several individuals who could easily cope at a higher level.

“There are still things for us to improve on, but I`m very pleased with what I saw today.”

Tyrone Barnett celebrating v Bristol City

Fergie was really pleased with the way his forward pairing are shaping up and scoring on a regular basis: “Tyrone and Britt were very good again today, just as they have been all season.

“They have formed an excellent partnership and contributed the majority of our goals. They link up very well and pose a big threat.”

“Tyrone scored a good forward`s goal and converting the penalty would have given us a real grip on the game.

“The fact it was saved gave City a lift and our second goal was the turning point of the game.

“It was a special strike from Britt who took both of his goals exceptionally well.

“He showed great determination to score his second and our third because he could easily have gone down under the challenge from a defender.

“Very good result today, kept it tight and took the chances (except the penalty). I notice that it is very close at the top of the league now. If we had not won today we would have been sixth. Also Posh’s defeat to Crawley is the only defeat recorded against any team in the top six.”

GNAT

“Brilliant result lads. Britt is pure class, Watford must be kicking themselves for letting him go. Again tyrone does the business. Biggest surprise this year and is continuing to prove alot of us wrong. Well done sir. Shame all the others won near the top but we are now second again.

Well done Jack Payne again. Should now keep his place in the team in place of McCann every week. Roll on mk dons next week. Can’t wait.

Come on pboro people lets fill London road and keep the momentum going. Congrats fergie and the lads. Utp. Goin up up up”

HanslopePosh

“Great result lads, great to get back into the winning habit. So glad Payne and Swanson started instead of McCann / Kearns. Latter players are important squad players rather than starters in my opinion. Can’t wait to get back to Peterborough next week for the MK Dons derby! Lets make some noise!

Just seen Shaq got sent off for violent conduct after coming on as a sub for Chester. It’s a learning curve! UTP

P.S. Has Barnett been possessed? Long may it continue that we have 2 forwards scarring the life out of Div 1 defenders!”

BluebellPosh

“Brilliant hard working performance, topped with 2 outstanding goals in the second half, work rate from the whole team was fantastic.

Barnett MOM for me, won all his headers and defended set pieces brilliantly too. One criticism of Britt he could easily have got a second yellow for a couple of dives late on, stay on your feet son you’re much better than that.”
