There are strong rumours that Peterborough United are looking at signing yet another player which would make it 6 new players inside a week!

The latest rumour mill has Posh strongly linked with Stevenage midfielder Dean Parrett.

The 24-year-old was actually signed for Boro by Posh boss Graham Westley so he is obviously an admirer of the player who was released by Spurs in 2013!

Westley actually valued Parrett at £1.5 million when he was the Stevenage boss but it looks like Boro are now looking at a six-figure sum.

Parrett has been injured in recent months but returned just over a week ago when coming on as a substitute at half-time in their 3-2 defeat at Plymouth Argyle. He watched their match against Barnet yesterday from the stand as negotiations with Posh continued.

Speaking to the Hertfordshire Mercury after their match yesterday [Saturday, 23rd January], Stevenage captain Ronnie Henry said: “He`s [Parrett] still with us training and until it happens, he`s still with us. That`s football. He`s a good young player. Graham [Westley] knows a lot about him. If he stays with us that`s good for us because he`s an exceptional player.

“We would like him to stay, but we have got no hand in that. Whatever happens happens, but good luck to him.”

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has described the newspaper report as ‘inaccurate` this morning though. Graham Westley also confirmed: said: “I wouldn`t have thought so.” When asked if there`d be more players coming to the club.

Could Parrett be the player whose agent was too busy having lunch last week to discuss terms before sending in ridiculous terms? Is MacAnthony trying to put everyone off the scent or is the report just a rumour?

If there is any truth in it, we`re sure to find out soon but seeing as we`ve turned down the offer to take West Ham United midfielder Reece Oxford on loan because we have enough bodies in midfield, you would have to question the validity of this latest rumour.
