Brighton Preview!

Fresh on the heels of our 3-3 draw with Carlisle, up at Brunton Park, we return to London Road to take on Brighton and Hove Albion this Tuesday evening.

It`s the first of two consecutive home matches with a second to follow on Saturday when we entertain Huddersfield Town. Glancing at the table, both sides are below us so, on paper, we have a great opportunity to consolidate our position and possibly climb into the play-off zone.

But one step at a time; lets consider the Brighton match first.

The south coast side are not particularly good travellers, of the five away games they`ve played this season they`ve only won two (mind you they`ve only lost one) and in those five games they`ve only scored eight times.

In recent weeks, the club has tried to turn around its fortunes by recruiting Robbie Savage on a short term loan deal, hopefully the lure of the, once good Welshman will entice a few more supporters into London Road.

Peterborough go into the game without the injured Shane Blackett and will also be missing Dean Keates and Chris Westwood. Aaron McClean, who came on as a substitute against Carlisle, will be hoping for a start.

For the visitors, Nicky Forster, Gary Hart and Kerry Mayo will all be missing and although Tommy Elphich is back from suspension it`s doubtful he`ll get further than the bench.

After his two goal brace on Saturday, Craig Mackail-Smith will be looking to register on the score sheet again with the influential forward remarking about his two goal showing at Brunton Park,

‘I am regularly getting three or four good opportunities in a game and I have to start finishing them. I didn’t do that against Carlisle and it cost us points.

‘The one positive I can take from my performance is that I kept going and when I got the chance right at the end I was able to put it away.

‘It was a massive relief to see the ball creep past the keeper and go into the corner because a draw is obviously better than a defeat.

‘But it doesn’t change the fact that I am really disappointed with myself. I definitely it is a game we should have won.’

If perfection is the hallmark of a great striker then we`ll not criticise Craig for that little bit of self criticism.

Hopefully, Posh will put on a display that`ll give us the three points and in doing so stand us in good stead for the weekend.
