Time to own up I suppose!
In the match preview I suggested that I had this feeling we`d win down at Ashton Gate. Perhaps I should admit to it being a bit of bravado though.
I was perfectly aware that Bristol City had not lost at home in sixteen games but I didn`t want you to all feel we`d be chasing a lost cause. Despite three defeats on the trot, we`ve not been playing as badly as our position deserves and today the result proved it.
Okay, it may have come about in a freakish fashion and very late on but is that not what turns seasons around?
For the fixture Darren Ferguson shuffled his starting eleven. In at full back came summer signing Tommy Rowe, replacing Russell Martin whilst on loan youngster Danny Rose took one of the midfield positions with Chris Whelpdale also earning a start.
Rumours that Krystian Pearce would make his first Championship start for Posh were wide of the mark.
Bristol City took the honours in the first half, going in 1-0 up at the break, with a goal that would have graced any stage.
The wonderfully named Cole Skuse skipped past one static Posh defender, darted between two others and slipped the ball past Joe Lewis for a wonderful solo effort.
Thankfully, although they left it very late Posh did get that equaliser and is there a more apt person to have scored it than George Boyd?
On the day that George equalled the record number of consecutive appearances, set by Eric Steele, he was fortunate enough to see his header loop up and beat the City keeper, Gerken.
The whelps of delight coming from the travelling support and the reactions of the bench and players suggested that this could well be a defining moment in our season.
Onwards and upwards we say!
