League Two side Cheltenham Town are keen to sign Peterborough United midfielder Kane Ferdinand.

Kane Ferdinand

Midfielder Kane Ferdinand is interesting Cheltenham Town and the Gloucestershire club are keen to tie up a season long loan for the player.

Discussions have been going on between the two sides but no agreement has been reached yet as they can`t agree how much contribution will be made towards his weekly wage. Posh want £1,500 per week but Cheltenham feel this is too much.

Cheltenham want to bring in three extra players to complete their squad and are looking for a striker and a back-up goalkeeper as well as a midfielder.

Their need for a midfielder got even more urgent though after midfielder Asa Hall went off injured after picking up a calf injury. Hall was making his debut for Town and if we all thought Nicky Ajose`s debut for Posh was short-lived, Hall`s was even shorter for Town as he went off after just eight minutes! His replacement went on to score the only goal of the game against Bury!

Ferdinand found himself out of favour last season and was placed on the transfer list at the end of last season. There have been interest in Ferdinand and many of the other transfer listed players but the Cheltenham interest sounds the most positive. Despite being on the transfer list, Ferdinand found himself coming on as a substitute in Saturday`s 1-0 win at Rochdale.

With Posh keen to see 3 or 4 players move on, it must surely be a matter of time before Ferdinand and some of the others move either permanently or on loan. Tyrone Barnett and Bobby Olejnik are two of the bigger wage earners at the club and it would be good to see at least one of these move sooner rather than later. However, with the ever reducing numbers in the forward department at Posh, we may decide to hold on to him a bit longer until we bring someone else in.
