Sky Bet League One match preview between the U`s and the Posh.

Colchester Away

Colchester United v Peterborough United
Location: Weston Homes Community Stadium
Date: 26th October, 2013
Kick-off: 15:00pm

Posh face their second trip of the season to the Weston Homes Community Stadium and will be hoping they come away with a similar result. Posh came away with a 5-1 victory after stepping up through the gears in the second half of that match to win it comfortably.

The U`s were in the middle of their best run of the season when Posh tonked them in the Cup but they are proving difficult to beat. They`ve drawn 7 of their 13 League matches this season and have only lost on four occasions. Two of those defeats came against two of the top three sides while another defeat was against Coventry (who`d be in 4th place if they weren`t deducted 10 points)!

Posh are still second in League One but they are now level on points with leaders Leyton Orient after the O`s lost their first game of the season in mid-week. They are an unbeaten run of eight League matches having won six of those.

HEAD TO HEAD

There have been 64 League matches played between these two sides down the years with Posh just edging the wins; 27 to 24. There have been just 13 draws!

The last time Posh travelled to the Weston Homes Community Stadium in the League came a few seasons ago in 2010/11. The U`s triumphed that time by two goals to one. Tommy Rowe scored the only Posh goal on that occasion after just 45 seconds. He may be rested for today`s match though.

TEAM NEWS

Colchester United

Joe Dunne has a major injury crisis which was added to on Tuesday when top-scorer Freddie Sears and defender David Wright both picked up a hamstring injury.

Mason Spence, Josh Thompson, Danny Pappoe, Sanchez Watt, Tom Eastman and Tosin Olufemi are all unavailable for selection giving Dunne a headache with the limited number of players available for him to select.

Jabo Ibehre has also been struggling with a hip injury and is touch and go whether he will be fit enough to play.

Dunne has brought in Cian Bolger on loan from Bolton Wanders to boost his defensive options while he is expected to give a debut to Elliott Lee as well.

Peterborough United

Posh boss Darren Ferguson is looking at making changes to freshen his team up. Britt Assombalonga is likely to come back into the starting line-up after dropping to the bench on Tuesday night but he is facing competition from new signing Shaun Jeffers who scored a hat trick for the Posh development side in mid-week.

Tommy Rowe [pictured below] may be the player who is given a rest as he has been playing with a niggling knee while influential midfielder Lee Tomlin is hoping to make the squad for the first time in seven matches since his injury in the Capital One Cup at Sunderland last month.

Danny Kearns is still struggling with a hip injury while Mark Little is hoping to be fit enough to feature amongst the substitutes.

Vital Posh predicts the starting line-up will be:

4-4-2 Tomlin and Taylor

HOTSHOTS

U’s

4 – Freddie Sears; 3 – Jabo Ibehre

Posh

8 – Britt Assombalonga; 7 – Lee Tomlin; 7 – Tyrone Barnett; 4 – Grant McCann; 3 – Tommy Rowe

REFEREE

STUART ATTWELL will take charge of the match. The Nuneaton based official has had a chequered career after originally being the blue-eyed boy with a big refereeing career ahead of him!

Attwell has been involved in some high profile gaffs during his career which you can find out here along with how he has performed so far this season.

He will be assisted by Mathew Buonassisi and Ashvin Degnarain.

The fourth official is Stuart Butler.

PREDICTION

The U`s are another team that are getting a lot of draws this season but Posh need to ensure they start another winning run starting today.

The potential return of Lee Tomlin should give Posh a boost which should also see them win the match.

Posh to win: 0 – 2.
