Peterborough United Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed Posh will be bringing in TWO players on loan.

DMAC, BF and Bob Simms v Mansfield

As usual, MacAnthony used social media to make the announcement but he refused to confirm who the players were or who they currently play for!

His first tweet read: “I sense a young gem like uncut prolific, pacey, unpolished diamond being delivered next Monday to Posh found in one of our fav hunting grounds”.

Most people immediately thought Dagenham and Redbridge, who coincidentally play Posh in the JP Trophy next Tuesday, but this was denied by the chairman. It could be a more general “hunting ground” in the form of non-League! The leading goal scorer in the Conference at present is Connor Jennings who has scored 11 goals for Macclesfield Town?the same place that Posh picked up Shaun Brisley and Emile Sinclair! Jennings is actual on loan at Macclesfield from Scunthorpe.

The cryptic clues kept coming as MacAnthony hinted: “It`s been a while since we dipped into NL, but maybe it`s time again.”

MacAnthony went on to confirm though that Posh will bring in not one but two players although he didn`t confirm when the second player would arrive at London Road: “And it won`t be the only one, another shall follow as well. Nothing like a couple of gems to mix in with the older diamonds in our collection!”

Could this refer to the now defunct Rushden and Diamonds outfit where Lee Tomlin came from or just a general phrase relating to the quality of the squad and the fact we take many players from lower leagues and polish them up?

Time will tell and we will see on Monday who Posh have brought in with a view to make the loan deal permanent in January.
