Peterborough United got their season up and running after coming from behind to beat Colchester United. What else happened in League One?

Marcus Maddison scores his first goal v Colchester

After losing their opening match of the season at Rochdale, Posh wanted to ensure they got their home campaign off on a winning start and that is exactly what happened. It didn`t look like it was going to happen though after being completely outplayed for the first 30 minutes.

Luckily for Posh, Marcus Maddison seems to have suddenly got the message regarding his “falling over” and is now causing more harm to the opposition and it was two strikes from the midfielder moments after Posh went behind that won the game for Posh.

That win moved Posh up from 21st place to 11th but positions in the League at such an early stage of the season are meaningless.

All the results from the latest match day are as follows:

SAT 15 AUG 2015

Barnsley 1 – 0 Burton Albion
Blackpool 0 – 2 Rochdale
Bradford City 1 – 1 Shrewsbury Town
Bury 2 – 2 Swindon Town
Millwall 0 – 4 Coventry City
Oldham Athletic 1 – 0 Fleetwood Town
Peterborough United 2 – 1 Colchester United
Port Vale 1 – 1 Gillingham
Scunthorpe United 2 – 0 Crewe Alexandra
Sheffield Utd 2 – 0 Chesterfield
Southend United 0 – 2 Walsall

SUN 16 AUG 2015

Wigan Athletic 0 – 0 Doncaster Rovers

There are now just two sides in League One with a 100% winning record with every single team having scored at least one point from the opening two matches.

The two sides at the top are Coventry City who had a very impressive four-nil victory at Millwall. Posh`s conquerors from last weekend, Rochdale are the other side with two wins out of two after another two-nil win, this time at Blackpool. Both sides are looking good and if they can remain consistent throughout the season then we can expect them both to be challenging for promotion either automatically or via the play-offs.

Four other teams remain unbeaten and make up the play-off places. They are Gillingham, last seasons play-off finalists Swindon Town, Walsall and Oldham Athletic. The latter two sides picked up their first win at the weekend after drawing their opening match of the season.

It`s way too early to be looking at who is facing relegation, but the teams comprising of the bottom four, all with one point, are Southend United, Crewe Alexandra, Wigan Athletic and Bradford City. Four other teams have one point so apart from Bradford, who have the worst goal difference (-3), the other teams on -2 and -1 goal differences are separated by alphabetic order.

The next round of matches start tomorrow night [Tuesday]. Posh entertain promotion favourites Sheffield United at the ABAX Stadium.
