More injury woes for Posh

Over the past few weeks, Posh have lost right back Mark Little to a hernia which has ruled him out for approximately 6 weeks and the skipper Grant McCann picked up a knee medial ligament injury at the recent 1-1 draw at Leicester. McCann is expected to be out of action for between 6 and 10 weeks.

If having two first team regulars out at the same time wasn`t bad enough for a small Posh squad, two more players picked up injuries in the weekends 1-0 win over Coventry City!

Lee Tomlin injured himself when he stretched for a loose ball and slipped at the same time. It is believed he has suffered a similar injury to McCann but not quite as bad. It is unknown how long he will be missing until he has scans on his injury.

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson said: “We think Lee has suffered a similar injury to Grant McCann. It`s probably not quite as bad, but we will have to wait and see.

“It`s a blow to lose any player, but to possibly have three out at the same time is a shame. However, it`s a chance for others to come in and do well and the likes of Danny Kearns and Joe Newell have shown we have decent strength in depth.”

As well as the injury to Tomlin, midfielder Lee Frecklington also went off injured for the second match in a row. He faces a race against time to be fit for the Boxing Day match at Nottingham Forest.
