St Ives hotshot Conor Washington has left his 3-day trial at Peterborough United after the first day!

Washington, who has just turned 20, scored an incredible 52 goals in 50 games for the United Counties League Premier Division outfit.

His goalscoring exploits raised the eyes of a number of teams with both Cambridge United and Dagenham and Redbridge both expressing a firm interest in the forward. League One Brentford are also monitoring the situation.

He was also invited for a 3-day trial with the first team Development squad at Posh but after only the first day, he tweeted that it had been a real “eye opener”!

Washington decided that the gulf in standard was too much at this point in his career and he informed the club that he wouldn`t be returning.

Chairman Darragh MacAnthony said: “Nice lad but left after one day of trial and called to say he is not ready for our level yet. Nice lad and wish him well.”
