No new manager until July

After having his fingers burnt with Mark Wright last season, owner Barry Fry is insistent that he will not be appointing a manager until July.

Fry is in temporary charge since Steve Bleasdale walked out just before the 3-2 win over Macclesfield last month and saw his side slump out of the playoffs in the last couple of weeks of the season.

Fry told the local press that he appointed Wright as early as possible last summer to assemble the squad and sort out contracts before paying him to have a month off.

With finances as they are at London Road it is not possible to pay a manager for a month to do nothing.

Whilst this will naturally put POSH behind in terms of the new manager finding all his targets have already signed for clubs (not being able to wait all summer to sort out a deal), it also leaves the out of contract players at London Road kicking their heals before knowing whether they are retained or not.
