Posh 1 Yeovil 3

Walking out of London Road last night you couldn`t help but notice the air of resignation hanging over the 6,000 hardy souls that had trudged into the old ground hoping to see Posh win.

Ninety minutes later I guess they`re more or less resigned to the fact that if Posh had any hopes of securing an automatic promotion place they`d just become a little more remote.

A home loss to lowly Yeovil, by three goals to one, was certainly not on the agenda. Couple that with the fact that our nearest rivals, MK Dons, over-turned Hartlepool by the same score and you realise it was indeed a bad day for the Posh faithful.

The MK Dons now have a six point advantage over Posh and although there are still numerous points to win the consensus is that it`ll take a Herculean effort to barge between Leicester City (sitting pretty at the top) and our neighbours from Buckinghamshire.

So where did it all go wrong? Why was there so little reward for those hardy souls who had spent three days clearing the ice and snow from off London Road? Did fate conspire to kick us where it hurts or were we just too lax?

Although Darren Ferguson was, in his after-match interview, to praise the lads for their effort you have to say the match was, all but, lost in three crucial minutes in the first half.

When Paul Warne scored to put the visitors ahead, you felt Posh could get back into things but when, ninety seconds later, Aaron Brown put the Somerset side two goals up, you sensed it wasn`t going to be our day.

Spirits were briefly raised when Aaron McLean reduced the arrears in the second but that sickening feeling returned when an error from Joe Lewis, resulted in Shaun MacDonald`s shot trickling in, to gibe Yeovil a 3-2 lead, you knew the game was up.

But never fear, Posh travel to Tranmere on Tuesday where the chance exists for the side to get back to winning ways. If promotion is to be secured three points and nothing less than three points is what we need to return south with.
