Peterborough United look likely to miss out on defender Craig Alcock.

Craig Alcock v Leyton Orient

Posh released Craig Alcock at the end of last season when his contract expired but after finding out the defender had rejected another club who were after him, they decided to offer him another contract; especially after fellow full-back Mark Little turned down an offer to stay at London Road meaning the club had no senior right-backs in their squad.

At the time, Posh were hopeful that he`d accept the offer but Alcock now has two other clubs interested in him and will speak to them over the weekend. Darren Ferguson has said that he is not “overly-optimistic” that Alcock would re-sign for the club!

“I`ve spoken to Craig a couple of times and he liked what I had to say. He had a meeting with Barry Fry and that was the financial situation; I don`t think that was too much of an issue. I`ve spoke to him again and he`s going to have a chat with a couple of other clubs, which he`s entitled to do, and we`ll probably know next week where that one is going to end up,” said Fergie.

“I`m not overly [optimistic]. We`re looking at other right backs, there`s no question about that. We`ve got a list of them, we`re making enquiries but it`s about 50/50 with Craig”.
