Shrewsbury star Jon Taylor has today joined Peterborough United on a three year deal. The 21 year old can play on either wing or at the tip of the diamond, and is sure to add pace and flare to the Posh side.
Darragh MacAnthony announced the signing on twitter, saying:
‘@DMAC102: Delighted to announce the transfer of young J Taylor from @shrewsweb on a 3 year deal.Can play wide Right,Left & top of a diamond & will add pace, aggressiveness, goals & assists to our midfield next season. Also commiseration’s to KR & other 2 Top 6 L1 clubs who tried to hijack the deal this morning. Thanks to @shrewsweb who have been brilliant to deal with in making this happen.’
He went on to say: ‘Past successful Posh sides have been built on flair,goals & assists from our att mids & this was an area we lacked last season.More to come!’
So it seems the player was in demand but Posh were determined to land him, and it was the move the player wanted. Darragh tweeted ‘Even when player was signing forms,other L1 manager on phone offering 50% more wages to agent. Love a player who picks ambition over greed!
