He`s got to be a contender for unluckiest player of the campaign!

Shane Blackett has twice suffered a dislocated shoulder this season, the second occurrence coming in his very first comeback game. It also resulted in surgeons deciding to pin the joint rather than opt to just pop it back in.

The operation necessitated a twelve week rehabilitation period, a period which is now coming to a close.

Blackett, speaking about his situation to the media, summed it up as thus,

‘It’s been a long, hard slog and a very frustrating time, but I’m targeting February for my comeback. My shoulder feels fine now, but I need to make sure it’s perfect before I start playing again.”

‘No player likes to watch, but I’ve been to all the home games and most of the away ones to keep myself involved and the lads have done great.”

‘There’s certainly enough in that dressing room to win automatic promotion and I desperately want to be involved on the pitch.’

Thoughts I`m sure we`d all echo.

Returning to the second occasion the shoulder popped out a second time, he remarked,

‘I came on as a substitute early in the second-half and fell awkwardly towards the end of the game.

‘It was agony, really horrendous, and to make things worse I had to stay in Carlisle for longer than I wanted! But it’s done now and I’ve had some good people around me keeping my spirits up so hopefully I will be able to repay them by making a contribution to the team soon.’

Now if we`d have been conducting the interview, we`d have asked what was worse Shane, – the injury or the stay in Carlisle?
