A surpisingly good first week of the season for POSH.

Flying Start!!!

So despite a poor run of form in pre-season, POSH have maintained their 100% start to the season (I know its only two games!!) having successfully negotiated two tricky matches in the first week.

Bristol Rovers were amongst the favourites for League Two but were despatched 4-1 at London Road. An early goal from Jamie Day was just the boost the team needed and they have barely looked back since.

Boston away on Wednesday always looked like being just as tough, but roared on by over a thousand travelling fans, the Yeoman struck to bring the points back down the A16 (and then A15!).

Lloyd Opara was harshly sent off in that match and according to reports, Keith Alexander is looking to appeal. With Andy D’Urso, a Premiership official, in charge you would have thought the cynical play and over reaction of Mark Albrighton would have been spotted… Then again maybe not.

Thoughts turn to Wrexham

Wrexham away is always a tricky match. Not just because it is so far away either. If Posh can consolidate and take a point from this match before returning to London Road next week against Macclesfield then a good start will have become a great start.

Farrell and Green- Spot the legend

A local derby like Boston vs POSH is always likely to have players in it who have featured for the other team.

Tim Ryan, Simon Rusk etc etc are with the Pilgrims but the other night it was David Farrell and Francis Green who took centre stage.

Farrell was cheered from the rafters when he was warming up. A true POSH legend who must have felt the love flowing from the terraces towards him as he warmed up.

Green on the other hand made abusive hand gestures. Classy.

I always used to defend Franny during his spell in Peterborough. I thought he was young and would get consistency. I was actually sad when he was sold. Now he has become public enemy no.1

Did the stock turn up?

People have been sighted in the ‘gold dust’ new Peterborough United home and away shirts around the city.

It’s a bit like ‘Wheres Wally?’ if you know what I mean.

Limited stocks turned up at the POSH shop in time for the season opener last weekend. There was another delivery planned for this week to service those who didnt get there in time on Saturday. But no news yet.

A Fry’s delight…

Thanks to a forum member, we are now running a poll on what you think of Amber Fry!

I have to say that whenever I have been into the club shop she has been polite and very helpful (qualities not always associated with London Road staff in the past).
