Posh – Duo Wanted?

It`s perhaps inevitable that as we rise through the leagues our playing staff will get noticed, that the ‘bigger boys` will try and snatch our talent away.

This weekend, rumours are circulating that two of our star players are being watched by other clubs, one a Premier League club and the other a high-riding Championship club.

Our keeper, Joe Lewis, who has already trained with the national side, is being watched by West Bromwich Albion.

When we signed Lewis, for a very modest £400,000 from Norwich City in January, the stories circulating suggested we`d got a bargain and that appears to have been the case as a string of fine performances have confirmed.

Albion, who currently have Scott Carson between the posts, have a lack of strength in depth in the keepers position. Dean Kiely, currently the understudy at the Hawthorns, is thirty-eight years of age and not getting any younger.

Therefore Tony Mowbray is looking for a more than capable rival for Carson and sees Lewis as his man.

Meanwhile, across the city at St Andrews, Birmingham City are casting an envious eye in the direction of Craig Mackail-Smith who has already scored ten times this season.

Mackail-Smith, like Lewis, has put in a string if good performances and a fee of £1 million is rumoured to be in the pipeline.

Whether Posh have the backbone to turn down such a fee remains to be seen.

We`ll try and keep you posted if anything changes.
