Football League sponsors Sky Bet have installed Peterborough United as favourites to beat in-form hosts Gillingham in today`s Sky Bet League One clash.
Gillingham -Vs- Peterborough United
Venue: MEMS Priestfield Stadium
Date: Saturday, 10th February, 2018
Kick-off: 15:00pm
Gillingham may have lost last weekend at League One Champions-elect Wigan Athletic but prior to that, they had been on a four match winning streak, losing just two of their 17 League One matches while winning nine times; form that has seen them jump up from second from bottom to twelfth and three points behind Posh!
That impressive form all started at the ABAX Stadium when they beat Posh one-nil thanks to a 35th minute long-range effort from Lee Martin. That match was also the first under Steve Lovell who had taken over the managerial hot seat from Peter Taylor just 24 hours beforehand. Lovell was caretaker boss at that point but the effect he has had at the club, he now has a two-year contract under his belt.
Posh, on the other hand, have lost their last three matches in all competitions! They lost 4-2 at Lincoln City in the quarter-final of the Checkatrade Trophy, 5-1 at home to Premier League Leicester City and one-nil at home to Southend United in the League!
Since that defeat to Gillingham back in October, while the Gills have played 17 matches, Posh have faced 23 matches in all competitions! Posh have won nearly half of those matches (11) while losing just five times so despite the recent results, Posh have also been in a good run of results.
Given the Gills remarkable set of results, have the bookies got it right in making Posh favourites to win the match with odds of 11/8? The Gills have been quoted at 9/5 to beat Posh with the draw priced at 13/5.
