In the article, Barry talks about his debt of gratitude he has for the Birmingham City chairman, David Gold.
If I`m reading the article right, it would seem that Gold was generous enough to lend Barry some rather large sums of money when he took on the Posh ownership and was struggling financially.
Here`s what Barry had to say to Adrian Milledge,
“He was excellent when I had a cashflow problem. I`d tell him my troubles and next day a cheque would arrive.”
“This happened three times. And I`m talking money – 100 grand, 150, 250. I`ve paid back every penny I owed but I know he gave me the money thinking he`d never see it again.”
“If it hadn`t been for him Peterborough would have gone bust.”
It would seem that David Gold is one hell of a diamond geezer and he has our thanks.
