Posh in Tranmere Skipper Link!

With us being a club on the up it`s inevitable that the rumour-mill is going to link us with a plethora of possible signings.

I guess the fact that Darren Ferguson has already been quoted as implying the squad needs bolstering with five or six new faces has only served to fuel the fire.

Therefore, it`s not too surprising to see a name linked with a move to London Road in the Daily Mirror this morning.

According to the leading tabloid, Posh are tracking the Tranmere Rovers skipper, Anthony Kay.

With Tranmere having missed out on the play-offs we suggest the school of thought is that Kay may be looking to further his football career in a higher division.

So, is Anthony Kay the sort of player we should be looking for or should we be looking at his cousin Peter instead?

It seems more likely that Kay will go to Huddersfield with him being a Yorkshire lad and whatnot.

However, if Kay were to go to you, I wouldn’t blame him at all. You’ll be in a higher division than us next year and we just can’t meet his wage demands by the looks of things.

Kay was easily our best player by last season. He was our Steven Gerrard if you will. Grabbed games, Brighton at home, Walsall at home to name but two, by the scruff of the neck and won us games with his goals.

I’ll be sad to see him inevitably go (I’m resigned to that now) but considering the resources, finances and ambition Posh have, we just can’t match or better it so I wouldn’t be suprised to see him elsewhere next season.

It would be a great signing for you as he is the captain type who does carry the team through tough phases of the season, which he did for us on numerous occasions. It’s just a shame we can’t get a fee for him as he’s out of contract. I think it would have taken a fair few hundred thousand pounds for us to accept the bid but as it is, he’ll walk away for free.

Hope he stays with us but like I said, it seems as though he will leave and if he does then best of luck to him.

Looks like you can’t meet his wage demands so as a realist, I have to think that if Posh, a side with a fair bit of cash to spend, can’t meet AK’s wage demands then we aren’t either.
