After having implied that the current squad will be given every opportunity to prove themselves in the Championship, we understand that moves are afoot to strengthen the squad.

Whilst we accept that those who got us promotion deserve their chance the consensus of opinion within the club is that the squad lacks a little depth, a run of injuries or the odd suspension could see us struggle.

Therefore it was no surprise that Darren Ferguson and Darragh MacAnthony have already discussed the matter and it`s believed that they are looking to bring in up to six new faces.

Speaking about the subject Darragh has previously commented,

‘We have already drawn up a budget and a list of players the manager would like to sign, but we won’t change our policy of going for young players with desire.”

‘It’s a policy that has brought us a lot of success in the last two seasons so it would be foolish to change it.”

‘The current side would cope with the higher level anyway. The Championship had better watch out as far as I’m concerned. It’s been a hectic couple of seasons, but days like we enjoyed on Saturday at Colchester make it all worthwhile.”

‘And it will be the same again next season. We will be busy because we won’t be coasting – we want to get to the Premier League.’

Isn`t it marvelous supporting a club with ambition!
