League One’s big promotion clash, shown live on Sky Sports on Easter Monday, didn’t fail to disappoint. Unfortunately Peterborough’s automatic promotion chances were dealt a blow as they were beaten 2-0 at promotion rivals Millwall.

Millwall’s win wasn’t without controversy though as their opening goal came courtesy of a penalty that took three attempts to be clarified, finally scored by Dave Martin (25) in the end. Peterborough ‘keeper Joe Lewis had twice saved penalties from Gary Alexander but on both occasions the referees assistant judged that he had come off his line too early.

Both sides had chances, either side of Jason Price’s (58) clincher for the home side, but they couldn’t be taken.

The win leaves the battle for automatic promotion still very much alive.
