Although named as one of the twelve that could leave, Sergio Torres had hopes that he could still forge a career at London Road.

These hopes appear to have been well and truly dashed after the winger, who trained with the first team squad last week, wasn`t taken on the pre-season trip to Marbella.

Indeed, Darren Ferguson appears to have hammered the final nail into Torres Posh career coffin by remarking to the local media,

‘We have a surplus of wingers and we need to get some money into the club so Sergio is one we decided to let go.”

‘He didn’t make the impact we had hoped, although he was unlucky with injuries. He’s a good footballer, but if we have one position where we have plenty of cover it’s his.”

‘I didn’t bring him to Marbella because as things stand he is not likely to feature in the first team.’

With that news Torres appears to have little option other than find a new club.
