Craig Mackail-Smith may have failed to achieve his goal of 30 goals this season but his marksmanship still played a major part in propelling Posh to promotion.

Craig has now scored prolifically in two divisions and already there is talk of the striker making a name for himself in the Championship.

After making such an impact, Craig has the full backing of the Posh owner, Darragh MacAnthony when it comes to next season.

Darragh has been extremely complimentary when it comes to the player Posh snapped up from non-league football, remarking to the local media,

‘My player of the season was Craig Mackail-Smith.’

‘It is not just his goals. People criticise him for the chances he misses, but for sheer work-rate he is absolutely incredible.”

‘He works so hard and always gives nothing less than 100 per cent.”

‘Craig’s performances are all the more remarkable considering his football background. He has come to us from non-league.”

‘He is the ultimate striker and I have no reason to doubt he will score 25 goals in the Championship and I hope he goes on to be recognised by his country.’

Time to strike whilst the iron is hot Craig, get in that office and get that pay rise now!
