Peterborough remain optimistic about getting Craig Mackail-Smith ready for the first fixture of the season, against Derby County.

Craig, who has been struggling with a groin injury, is looking to get a run out in the friendly against Oxford United this Saturday.

Speaking about the predicament, Darren Ferguson has remarked,

‘Craig is getting there and he may get 45 minutes against Oxford then we will see.”

“Depending on how that goes he should be fine for the Derby game.

Although George Boyd did great in a central role, after coming on against Fulham, we`d categorically state that a forward line with Craig Mackail-Smith in it looks far more potent with regards to getting us off to a good start in the Championship!
