After overcoming a battling AFC Hornchurch in the last round, many people question Darren Ferguson`s decision to rest certain players, especially Craig Mackail-Smith who had to come off the bench to score the winner.

Ahead of our second round tie with Tranmere Rovers, Darren is aware of the importance of progressing in the cup, especially with the big boys poised to enter the competition.

This is what he had to say to the assembled media ahead of the tie,

‘I will be fielding as strong a team as possible as this is a very big game for the club. Like every other team at our level we want to reach the third round of the Cup and land a big club.”

‘It’s a prestigious competition which generates a lot of excitement and we want to do well in it. I have to change the midfield because Andrew Crofts is cup-tied and there might be a couple of other changes as well.”

‘But whoever plays will be made aware that there is a big carrott dangling in front of us. It won’t be easy as Tranmere are a very good side who had an excellent result beating Scunthorpe on Tuesday.’

That`s exactly what we wanted to hear!
