After his spectacular collision with the gravel track at the County Ground, Swindon on Tuesday night Darragh MacAnthony had every reason to wince at the sight of his latest acquisition being carried away on a stretcher.
His signing has been the subject of much speculation especially the undisclosed price tag. With the club record standing at £400,000 for the excellent Joe Lewis, there is the suggestion that the fee for Gabriel Zakuani could be in the same region.
Speaking to the local media MacAnthony remarked,
‘Gaby has cost us a fortune, but it’s money well spent because he is already one of our best signings.
‘He has given 110 per cent to our team in terms of performance and effort. Hats off to the manager for finding him.’
