The man in charge of the npower Championship match between Cardiff City and Peterborough United is DAVID COOTE.

Having had some Championship rookie referees in the last few games, Posh now have a slightly more seasoned referee overseeing their visit to the Welsh capital.

Nottingham based Coote takes charge of his seventh Championship match of the season but it will be his first in charge of a Cardiff City match.

Coote has refereed Posh once in each of the last two seasons. Posh won 2-1 away at Bristol City last season in a match that saw five yellow cards issued. Three Posh players were recipients of a yellow card, namely Gaby Zakuani, Ryan Bennett and Emile Sinclair. After a goalless first half, Posh struck twice in 20 minutes through goals from George Boyd and Lee Tomlin. A late consolation from Marvin Elliott made it a nervy end to the match for Posh.

The previous season, 2010/11, Posh won 4-1 at home to Walsall during the promotion season from League One. Lee Tomlin was the only home player booked in that match while Aaron Lescott was booked for the visitors. The visitors opened the scoring after just 10 minutes but a brace from Craig Mackail-Smith and one each from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Ryan Bennett completed the Posh scoring.

So far this season, Coote has refereed 17 matches showing 51 yellow cards and three red cards.

His last match was last Saturday when Ipswich eased to an easy 3-0 victory over Millwall. Three yellow cards were shown in that match with two of them going to the away team. That match saw Posh striker Tyrone Barnetts last match on loan at Ipswich before he suffered a posterior ligament injury in a friendly match against Nike Athletic!

The assistant referees for the Cardiff v Posh match are Neil Radford and Simon Knapp. The fourth official is Marc Perry.
