The man in charge of the Sky Bet League One match between Leyton Orient and Peterborough United is KEVIN JOHNSON.

Kevin Johnson

It`s rookie ref time again but this time Kevin Johnson is the one with the least amount of football league experience. This season is his first season as a Football League referee after being promoted to the Level One National referees list in the summer!

Property-maintenance worker Johnson was one of just four officials to get promoted to the list in the summer and he was delighted at the news: “I can`t wait to get started. My main ambition is to become an established League referee. If it all goes well for me, then who knows what the future might bring?

“I can see myself starting off in League One and League Two and then, all being well, progressing to a Championship game or two.”

The Somerset official has taken charge of just 12 Football League matches with all bar two being in League Two. The other two came in the JP Trophy and FA Cup. This is his first venture in League One! Of those 12 matches, he has issued 35 yellow cards and three red cards.

It`s not surprising then that Johnson has yet to referee Posh but he did referee the O`s last season in an FA Cup clash against Southport. The O`s ran out 5-2 winners with two of the goals being scored by former Posh player Shaun Batt. Three yellow cards were shown in the match with all of them going to the O`s players.

The last match he refereed came three weeks ago when he took charge of Dagenham and Redbridges 4-2 win over Carlisle United. Three yellow cards were issued with two of them going to the Cumbrians.

The assistant referees for the Leyton Orient v Posh clash are William Bull and Joe Clark. The fourth official is Jake Hillier.
