The man in charge of the Checkatrade Trophy third round match between Luton Town and Peterborough United is ANTONY COGGINS.

Referee Antony Coggins is in just his first season as a Football League referee but the match between the Hatters and the Posh will be the second Posh match he has officiated!

The first time was just a few weeks ago when Posh needed a replay in the second round of the FA Cup to overcome Woking. Posh won that match 5-2 with both sides sharing the two yellow cards shown during the match.

Prior to this season Coggins spent just one season in the National League and has also been an assistant referee prior to moving into the middle.

As an assistant, Coggins has officiated at two Posh matches. The last time was when Posh traveled to Swindon in January 2014 for a League One clash with the first match coming in the Championship when Posh played at Birmingham City.

Both fixtures ended in defeat for Posh; 2-1 and 1-0 respectively. Nat Knight-Percival scored the goal against the Robins while Lee Tomlin saw red with five minutes remaining. Current Posh boss Grant McCann came on as a substitute six minutes before the sending off in place of Tommy Rowe.

This Checkatrade Trophy third round match will be the first time Coggins has refereed Luton Town.

So far this season Coggins has officiated 21 matches issuing 49 yellow cards and 2 red cards.

His last match came on New Years Day when Forest Green Rovers hosted Wycombe Wanderers in League Two. Wanderers won the match two-one with two first half goals either side of Rovers Charlie Cooper receiving his marching orders. Former Posh striker Craig Mackail-Smith scored the second of those goals.

The assistant referees for the Luton Town v Posh clash are Daniel Cook and Carl Fitch-Jackson. The fourth official is Kevin Johnson.
