The man in charge of the npower Championship match between Crystal Palace and Peterborough United is CRAIG PAWSON.

Craig Pawson

Craig Pawson referees his third Posh match of the season this weekend as he takes charge of the match at Selhurst Park. Pawson has been an unlucky referee for Posh this season as Posh have lost both matches he has refereed?let`s hope it`s third time lucky!

The first Posh match he officiated this season came on the opening day of the season when Posh went down 2-0 at Leicester City. Central defender Gaby Zakuani will remember that match as the referee failed to award a freekick to the DR Congo international when he was climbed all over by Wes Morgan as Morgan powered a header from a corner into the Posh net for the opening goal! Andy King completed the scoring fifteen minutes from time.

Four yellow cards were shown in the Foxes match with both sides receiving two cards each. Lee Frecklington and Paul Taylor were the Posh culprits on that occasion.

The second match came in mid-November when Posh went down 4-1 to Blackburn Rovers at London Road. Pawson showed just one yellow card in this match which went to Joe Newell. An early Mauro Formica goal was followed by a Jordan Rhodes hat-trick before Lee Tomlin scored a late consolation two minutes from time.

Crystal Palace have had Pawson officiate them just once this season which came in mid-March. Palace have had as much success as Posh with Pawson refereeing as they went down 3-0 at rivals Brighton and Hove Albion. Three yellow cards were issued in that match with midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi receiving the only Palace card.

The South Yorkshire based referee has officiated 35 matches so far this season issuing 99 yellow cards and four red cards. Sixteen of these matches have been in the Championship where he has shown 47 yellow cards and one red cards.

His last Championship match came in last Fridays televised match between Leicester City and Watford. The Hornets came out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Troy Deeney and a stunning strike from Nathaniel Chalobah. Three yellow cards were issued during the game with former Posh loanee Matthew Briggs picking up Watfords only yellow card.

The assistant referees for the Crystal Palace v Posh match are Mathew Buonassisi and Daniel Cook. The fourth official is Gavin Ward.
