For the second match in a row, Posh have a referee taking charge of their match who is in only his fifth season of refereeing in the Football League.

Despite being what is considered a relative newcomer, Linington has already taken charge of both teams on 4 occasions including one match between the two teams!

That match was back in the 2009/10 Championship season when Posh managed a rare win in that season and it came in familiar circumstances. Town took the lead through Daryl Murphy but Posh hit back in the second half through a stunning Liam Dickinson strike followed by goals from Lee Frecklington and Craig Morgan. Three yellow cards were issued during the game with Josh Simpson receiving Posh`s only card Damien Delaney and David Norris both received yellow cards for the visitors.

The last time Posh had Linington referee their match came on the opening day of last season when Posh came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 thanks to goals from Grant McCann and David Ball. Four yellow cards were issued during this match which all when to Palace players.

Ipswich had Linington take charge of two of their matches last season with the last one in March 2012 when they beat Burnley 1-0 but they had Grant Leadbitter sent off in the 90th minute. Michael Chopra was their goal hero that day.

Based in Newport, Isle of Wight, Linington missed the first half of this season and has only taken charge of seven matches this season, all since January. He has taken charge of five League Two matches and two League One matches this season issuing just 13 yellow cards and no red cards.

The last Championship match he took charge of came in April last year when Coventry beat Millwall 1-0 at home. Six yellow cards were shown in that match with five of them going to Millwall players.

The last match he took charge of this season came last weekend when Leyton Orient beat Bournemouth 3-1. Orient received the only two yellow cards of the match.
