The man in charge of the televised FA Cup Fourth Round match between Peterborough United and Leicester City at the ABAX Stadium is MICHAEL OLIVER.

Premier League referee Michael Oliver is the man tasked with officiating the televised FA Cup match on Saturday lunchtime between Posh and the Foxes.

Posh have only had the pleasure of Oliver on four occasions during the officials eleven years as a Football League referee. Funnily enough, one of those matches was at home to none other than Leicester City!

That came in the Championship season of 2011/12 and it took just one goal to win the game. That was scored by Posh striker Paul Taylor on the hour mark. Three yellow cards were shown during the match; Craig Alcock picked up the only card for Posh with Kasper Schmeichel and David Nugent picking up yellows for the Foxes.

The Foxes first encountered Oliver back in 2008/09 when they hosted Carlisle United in League One. Matt Oakley and Matty Fryatt scored second-half goals for the hosts but they could only draw two-all. No cards were shown during the match by Oliver.

Since that match, Oliver has officiated 17 Foxes matches; the majority of which have been during the last few seasons when they returned to the Premiership.

So far this season, Oliver has officiated 26 matches issuing 98 yellow cards and five red cards.

His highest card count for a match this season is 8 cards in a match which has happened twice. The London-derby between West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur last September saw 7 yellow cards dished out and one red card which was collected by Spurs defender Serge Aurier. Spurs won the match three-two although they were three-nil up at one point!

The other match, at Vicarage Road, saw all yellows shown with both Watford and Stoke City sharing them equally. The Potters won the match though thanks to a 16th minute Darren Ferguson goal.

The last match Oliver officiated came on Wednesday evening in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final between Arsenal and Chelsea. The Gunners came from behind to win two-one with both teams picking up two yellow cards each.

In the last round of the FA Cup, Oliver refereed the match between Fulham and Southampton which the Saints won one-nil thanks to a 29th minute James Ward-Prowse goal. Two yellow card were shown during the match with both sides picking up one each.

His statistics for the last few seasons in the Premier / Football League are:

2017/18 – 26 matches – 9 home wins – 10 away wins – 7 draws
2016/17 – 44 matches – 29 home wins – 9 away wins – 6 draws
2015/16 – 36 matches – 12 home wins – 11 away wins – 13 draws

Card Tally For Last Few Seasons:

2017/18 – Games 26 – Yellow 98 – Red 5
2016/17 – Games 44 – Yellow 138 – Red 5
2015/16 – Games 36 – Yellow 131 – Red 9

His matches involving Posh and the Foxes to date are:

Posh – 4 matches – 2 wins – 1 draw – 1 defeat
Foxes – 18 matches – 10 wins – 3 draws – 5 defeats

The assistant referees for this match will be Simon Bennett and Edward Smart. The fourth official is Stephen Martin.
