The man in charge of the Sky Bet League One match between Swindon Town and Peterborough United is ANDY DAVIES.

Andy Davies

Rookie referee Andy Davies is in just his third season as a Football League referee! He is a former professional footballer after having stints at Portsmouth, Gillingham and Yeovil. He had to stop playing through injury at the age of twenty- eight so turned to refereeing in 2003. He has made rapid progress since including a double promotion!

During his short Football League refereeing career, Davies has refereed Posh just once. That was in the second round of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy last season when they hosted Brentford. Posh took the lead via an own goal before a Grant McCann penalty doubled their advantage. Former Posh loanee Ben Nugent pulled a goal back with 10 minutes remaining but Posh held on for the victory. Four yellow cards were shown during the match with just one going to Posh (Danny Swanson).

Davies has officiated three Swindon matches! They will want to forget the first time though as they lost two-nil at home to Morecambe and they had Aden Flint sent off. The last time he refereed them was last season and they had a much happier time as they ran out five-nil winners at home to Crewe Alexandra. Ryan Mason scored a second half hat-trick. Five yellow cards were shown in the match but only two were received by Robins players. One of which went to former Posh loanee Alex Pritchard.

So far this season, Davies has refereed 27 matches issuing 95 yellow cards and seven red cards!

The last match he refereed came on Good Friday when Norwich City won one-nil at Brighton and Hove Albion. Both sides received two yellow cards each during the match.
The last League One match he took charge of came in mid-March when he took charge of a relegation battle between Crawley Town and Leyton Orient. An Izale McLeod penalty was the only thing that divided the teams while seven yellow cards were issued during the game. The O`s received four of them.

The assistant referees for the Swindon Town v Posh clash are Andrew Laver and Sam Purkiss. The fourth official is Colin Lymer.
